香港醫學會（以下簡稱「醫學會」）昨日假中環會所舉行傳媒春茗，會長鄭志文醫生、副會長陳沛然醫生及楊協和醫生、義務秘書凌霄志醫生、義務司庫蘇睿智醫生，以及一眾會董，與出席的十多間傳媒代表共慶佳節，並分享醫學會的最新發展及未來發展方向。

香港醫學會成立於1920年，適逢今年是醫學會成立105周年，會長鄭志文醫生與傳媒朋友回顧過去一年的重要工作。2024年，醫學會積極推動國內外醫學交流，鞏固與各地醫學組織的合作關係，同時持續發展基層醫療，支援社區醫生，並加強對醫學生及年青醫生的培育工作。鄭會長表示：「基層醫療的發展是香港醫療體系的重要基石，醫學會一直致力於支援社區醫生，協助落實政府的《基層醫療健康藍圖》，並透過健康網絡的建立，加強與地區康健中心及醫管局的協作。」鄭會長續指，本會亦十分重視年青一代醫學人才的發展，透過不同的交流計劃、實習機會及專業培訓，讓醫學生及年青醫生能夠拓展視野，裝備自己，為未來投身醫療界作好準備。「我們相信，只有培育更多優秀的醫學人才，香港的醫療體系才能持續進步，為市民提供更優質的醫療服務。」

積極拓展國內外的醫學合作

2024年，醫學會與其他地區的醫學組織恢復活動並加強聯繫，繼續發揮本會與不同地區合作，以促進醫學交流和醫療發展的作用：

• 7月，醫學會副會長陳沛然醫生和義務秘書凌霄志醫生帶領九名醫學生到訪馬來西亞吉隆坡這個一帶一路國家，與馬來西亞醫學會、當地醫科大學、公立和私家醫院進行交流。
• 8月，醫學會代表陳以誠醫生參加了在馬尼拉舉行的亞洲及大洋洲醫學聯會大會，醫學會代表再次獲選成義務司庫。
• 10月，鄭會長率領了代表團出席了在芬蘭赫爾辛基舉行的世界醫學會第75屆周年大會，與50多個國家或地區醫學會代表討論全球性醫學議題，會上並通過了對醫學科研極為重要的《赫爾辛基宣言2024年修訂版》。今次醫學會代表團中首次包括兩名年青醫生，他們代表香港醫學會參加了世界醫學會青年醫生網絡會議，體現了本會對鼓勵年青醫生開拓國際視野和培育人才的支持。

發展基層醫療 支援社區醫生

為配合政府《基層醫療健康藍圖》，香港醫學會積極發展基層醫療，支援社區醫生，改善市民健康：

• 重整地區網絡：醫學會將地區網絡重組為「健康網絡」，透過中央統籌模式，為社區醫生提供與基層醫療發展相關的持續醫學進修，開發適應基層醫療需求的診所管理系統，並設立平台收集醫生在推行基層醫療計劃時的意見，並與政府溝通，促進與地區康健中心及醫管局的合作。
• 成立基層及全科醫療委員會：此委員會以醫學會全科醫生為骨幹，推動分級診療，並透過公眾教育提升社會對全科醫生角色的認識，為「全專共管模式」作準備。
• 支援長者醫療：面對香港邁向超級老齡化，醫學會推行社區長者健康管理計劃，提升長者健康意識，並透過《樂遊共享認知障礙遊戲訓練第二期計劃》協助認知障礙症患者及支援照顧者，促進社區安老及精神健康。

培育醫學生及年青醫生

醫學會一直重視青年醫生及醫學生的發展，並於2024年進一步深化相關工作：

• 拓展國內醫學實習機會：醫學會成立「醫學生內地醫院學習交流先導計劃專責委員會」，並與中華醫學會簽訂合作備忘錄，6月安排兩名醫學生到北京協和醫院進行配屬學習，7月再與和睦家醫療合作，安排醫學生到深圳及北京和睦家醫院學習，期望未來進一步擴展計劃。
• 舉辦多元醫學活動：青年委員會於2024年舉辦醫學生職業座談會、醫學知識工作坊、中學生醫學教育體驗計劃，並參與政府「共創明Teen計劃」，讓年輕一代深入認識醫療行業，啟發未來醫學人才。

百年來，醫學會不僅與香港醫療界同步發展，也有幸能夠在其中盡一份力量，支援同業、服務市民。香港醫學會將繼續發揮專業平台的作用，深化國內外醫學交流，促進基層醫療發展，並積極培育新一代醫學人才，推動香港醫療體系的長遠發展。

The Hong Kong Medical Association (“HKMA”) hosted its annual media spring gathering yesterday at its Central Clubhouse. President Dr CHENG, Chi Man, Vice Presidents Dr CHAN, Pierre and Dr YEUNG, Hip Wo Victor, Honorary Secretary Dr LING, Siu Chi Tony, Honorary Treasurer Dr SO, Yui Chi, and other council members joined representatives from over ten media outlets to celebrate the occasion. The event provided an opportunity to share updates on the HKMA’s latest initiatives and future development plans. 

Founded in 1920, The HKMA marks its 105th anniversary this year. To commemorate this milestone, President Dr CHENG, Chi Man reflected on the Association’s key initiatives over the past year with media friends. In 2024, the HKMA actively fostered medical exchanges both locally and internationally, strengthened collaborations with medical organisations worldwide, advanced primary healthcare development, supported community doctors, and enhanced training for medical students and young doctors.

Dr CHENG emphasised, “The development of primary healthcare is a cornerstone of Hong Kong’s medical system. The HKMA remains committed to supporting community doctors and facilitating the implementation of the government’s Primary Healthcare Blueprint. Through the establishment of the HKMA District Health Network, we have strengthened collaboration with District Health Centres and the Hospital Authority.” He further highlighted the Association’s dedication to nurturing the next generation of medical professionals. By offering various exchange programmes, internships, and professional training opportunities, the HKMA equips medical students and young doctors with the skills and experience needed to excel in their future careers. “We firmly believe that only by cultivating outstanding medical talent can Hong Kong’s healthcare system continue to progress, ensuring high-quality medical services for the public.”

Expanding Medical Collaborations Locally and Internationally

In 2024, The HKMA resumed in-person engagements and strengthened ties with medical organisations worldwide, continuing its role in fostering medical exchange and advancing healthcare development across regions:

• July 2024: The HKMA Vice President Dr CHAN, Pierre and Honorary Secretary Dr LING, Siu Chi Tony led a delegation of nine medical students to Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia—one of the Belt and Road countries. They engaged in meaningful exchanges with the Malaysian Medical Association, local medical universities, as well as public and private hospitals.
• August 2024: The HKMA representative Dr CHAN, Yee Shing attended the General Assembly of the Confederation of Medical Associations of Asia and Oceania (“CMAAO”) in Manila, where the HKMA was once again elected as Honorary Treasurer.
• October 2024: President Dr CHENG led a delegation to the 75th Annual Assembly of the World Medical Association (“WMA”) in Helsinki, Finland, where we joined representatives from over 50 countries and regions to discuss global medical issues. During the conference, the WMA Declaration of Helsinki (2024 Revision), a crucial document for medical research ethics, was successfully adopted. Notably, for the first time, our delegation included two young doctors who represented HKMA at the WMA’s Junior Doctors Network meeting. This reflects our commitment to supporting young medical professionals in expanding their international perspectives and fostering future leadership in the field.

Advancing Primary Healthcare and Supporting Community Doctors

In alignment with the government’s Primary Healthcare Blueprint, the HKMA is actively enhancing primary healthcare services, supporting community doctors, and improving public health:

• Restructuring District Networks: The HKMA has reorganised its regional networks into the HKMA District Health Network, adopting a centralised coordination model. This initiative provides continuing medical education for community doctors on primary healthcare development, develops clinic management systems tailored to primary care needs, and establishes a platform to gather doctors’ feedback on implementing primary healthcare programmes. The HKMA also facilitates communication with the government and strengthens collaboration with District Health Centres and the Hospital Authority.
• Establishing the Primary and General Practice Committee: Comprising general practitioners within the HKMA, this committee promotes tiered medical services and enhances public awareness of the role of general practitioners through educational initiatives. It also lays the groundwork for the “Shared Care Model”, fostering closer collaboration between primary care and specialist services.
• Supporting Elderly Healthcare: As Hong Kong moves toward a super-aged society, the HKMA has launched several community service projects to enhance seniors’ health awareness. Additionally, the HKMA Dementia Boardgame Training Programme Phase II, which includes interactive cognitive training games, provides support for dementia patients and caregivers, promoting aging in place and improving mental health in the community.

Nurturing Medical Students and Young Doctors

The HKMA has long been committed to the development of young doctors and medical students. In 2024, these efforts were further expanded:

• Enhancing Medical Internship Opportunities in Mainland China: The HKMA established the Task Force on the HKMA Medical Students Mainland Hospitals Attachment Pilot Programme and signed a MoU with the Chinese Medical Association. In June 2024, two medical students were placed at Peking Union Medical College Hospital (“PUMCH”) for attachments. In July 2024, further collaborations with United Family Healthcare (“UFH”) facilitated medical students’ training at its hospitals in Shenzhen and Beijing, with plans to expand the programme in the future.
• Organising Diverse Medical Activities: The Youth Committee hosted various initiatives in 2024, including the annual career seminar for students, medical knowledge workshops, and a medical education experience programme for secondary students. Additionally, the HKMA participated in the government’s “Strive and Rise” mentorship programme, providing young people with deeper insights into the medical profession and inspiring future generations of healthcare professionals.

For over a century, the HKMA has grown alongside Hong Kong’s medical sector, playing an integral role in supporting healthcare professionals and serving the community. Moving forward, the HKMA will continue to serve as a professional platform to strengthen international and regional medical exchanges, advance primary healthcare, and nurture the next generation of medical talents, driving the long-term development of Hong Kong’s healthcare system.
