香港醫學會（以下簡稱「醫學會」）105周年會慶啟動禮暨2024年周年晚會於2024年12月14日（星期六）隆重舉行，標誌着醫學會邁向第105個年頭，亦為105周年慶祝活動揭開序幕。
當晚的啟動禮由香港特別行政區政府醫務衞生局局長盧寵茂教授主禮，而啟動儀式則由盧局長、衞生署署長林文健醫生、香港醫學會會長鄭志文醫生、副會長楊協和醫生和副會長陳沛然醫生一同主持。啟動禮象徵醫學會承傳百年來的豐碩成果，同時放眼未來，開拓未來航道，繼續肩負推動醫學發展及維護公眾健康的重要使命。
醫務衞生局局長盧寵茂教授感謝香港醫學會自1920年成立以來，一直致力於促進醫學專業的發展和提升市民健康水平。他表示︰「多年來醫學會不僅局限於專業發展，還積極推動社會公益工作，包括推廣器官捐贈計劃、舉辦地區健康教育活動，支持基層醫療健康服務。香港醫療系統面臨人口老化和與日俱增的慢性疾病挑戰，我期望香港醫學會能繼續發揮專業角色，與特區政府和社會各界攜手合作，共同為醫療服務提質提量。」
百年來，醫學會不僅與香港醫療界同步發展，也有幸能夠在其中盡一份力量，支援同業、服務市民。今年周年晚會的主題為「百年遠航，同心同行」，寓意醫學會在歷史洪流中穩步前行，承先啟後，與業界並肩同行。會長鄭志文醫生在致辭中表示：「香港醫學會自成立以來，始終以『維護民康，支援同業』為宗旨，未來亦將繼續致力於發展基層醫療發展、建立、拓展和鞏固國內外聯繫，以及培育醫學生和年青醫生，為業界和市民作出更多貢獻。」
是次啟動禮及晚會場面盛大，本會邀得一眾嘉賓蒞臨，包括遠道而來的中華人民共和國國家衞生健康委員會港澳台辦副主任李維女士、中華醫學會代表團包括會長趙玉沛院士、副會長周明堅先生、澳門中華醫學會代表團包括會長陳亦立先生、廣東省醫學會代表團包括副秘書長劉筱燕女士。嘉賓亦包括中央人民政府駐香港特別行政區聯絡辦公室協調部副部長陳澤濤先生，以及來自醫務委員會、醫務衞生局、大學、醫學院、醫院管理局、私隱專員公署、廉政公署、專業團體、法定組織、醫學組織、醫療機構、病人團體及基層醫療非牟利機構的代表，與二百多名賓客一同聚首一堂，共同見證醫學會邁向105周年的重要時刻。
啟動禮當日，醫學會亦率先舉行了首項105周年系列活動——《老齡化人口健康》醫學會議。隨後的一年，香港醫學會將陸續開展一系列多元化的活動，包括歌唱比賽、攝影比賽、展覽、義工活動、中學生辯論比賽等，並以壓軸的周年晚宴為慶祝活動劃上圓滿句號。

The Hong Kong Medical Association (“HKMA”) proudly hosted its 105th Anniversary Kick-off Ceremony cum Annual Dinner 2024 on Saturday, 14 December 2024, marking a significant milestone in the Association’s history and officially commencing its 105th Anniversary celebrations.
The Kick-off Ceremony and Annual Dinner was officiated by Prof. LO Chung Mau, BBS, JP, Secretary for Health of the HKSAR Government. Prof. LO was joined with Dr LAM Man Kin, Ronald, JP, Director of Health, Dr CHENG, Chi Man, President of the HKMA, Dr YEUNG Hip Wo and Dr CHAN, Pierre, Vice Presidents of the HKMA to launch the meaningful occasion, which symbolised the HKMA’s commitment to inheriting its rich achievements over the past century. It also underscored the Association’s forward-looking vision to continue advancing medical development and safeguarding public health as it embarks on this new chapter.
Prof. LO Chung Mau, BBS, JP, Secretary for Health, expressed his gratitude to the HKMA for its unwavering dedication to advancing medical profession and improving public health since its establishment in 1920. “Over the years, the HKMA has gone beyond professional development by actively engaging in community initiatives, such as promoting organ donation, organising district health education programmes, and supporting primary healthcare services.” Prof. LO remarked. “Hong Kong is facing challenges posed by an ageing population and the rising prevalence of chronic diseases, I therefore look forward to the HKMA to continue its professional role and collaborate with the HKSAR Government and various sectors of the community to enhance both the quality and quantity of healthcare services.”
For over a century, the HKMA has not only progressed with the medical sector in Hong Kong but has also played a remarkable part in supporting the profession and serving the community. The theme of this year’s Annual Dinner, “A Century of Sailing, Together We Strive, Together We Thrive”, signifies the HKMA’s steady journey through history, building on past achievements while heralding the future and supporting its peers. Dr CHENG, Chi Man, President of the HKMA, remarked, “Since its establishment, the HKMA has remained steadfast in its mission to ‘safeguard the health of the people and support our colleagues’. Moving forward, the HKMA will continue to enhance the development of primary healthcare, establish, widen, and strengthen ties with Mainland China and the international medical community, as well as nurture medical students and young doctors, contributing further to the health and well-being of the public.”
The Kick-off Ceremony and Annual Dinner was a landmark occasion, bringing together over 200 distinguished guests, including Ms LI, Wei, Deputy Director, National Health Commission; Prof. ZHAO, Yupei, the President, and Mr ZHOU, Mingjian, the Vice-President, of the Chinese Medical Association (CMA); Dr CHEN Yilip, the President of the Macao Chinese Medical Association, and Ms LIU Xiaoyin, Deputy Secretary General of the Guangdong Medical Association. Also attending were guests from the Deputy Director-General of the Coordination Department of The Liaison Office of the Central People’s Government in the Hong Kong Special Administrative Region, Mr CHEN Zetao, the Medical Council, Health Bureau, universities, medical schools, the Hospital Authority, the Office of the Privacy Commissioner for Personal Data, Independent Commission Against Corruption, professional bodies, statutory organisations, medical organisations, healthcare organisations, patient groups, and primary healthcare non-profit organisations. Together, they witnessed this historic moment commencing the HKMA’s 105th anniversary.
As part of the celebrations, the HKMA launched the first event in its 105th anniversary series – “The HKMA Scientific Conference – Prioritising Health for Ageing Population”. In the year to come, the HKMA will continue the celebrations with a range of diverse activities, including singing contests, photography competitions, exhibitions, volunteer activities, debate competitions for secondary school students, etc., and will conclude the celebrations with a grand finale, the Annual Dinner.
