豁免非本地培訓醫生的實習期

醫務委員會昨日（五月八日）討論協助非本地培訓醫生來港執業的方案，並進行表決。會議氣氛務實及理性，委員亦可就個別方案作輕微修改。

雖然香港醫學會及其他前線醫生組織支持的方案未獲通過，但本會尊重和接受昨日的投票結果。

在方案落實執行後，香港醫學會仍會本著「維護民康」的宗旨，監察這項豁免安排能否有效應對公營醫療系統的人手問題，以及保證非本地培訓醫生的質素和保障病人安全。

本會亦衷心希望有關當局能積極面對及改善公營醫療機構的工作環境及管理問題，以挽留本地及非本地培訓的醫生，繼續為市民服務。

Exemption of Period of Internship for Non-locally Trained Doctors

The Medical Council of Hong Kong discussed and voted yesterday (8 May 2019) on the motions on the facilitation for full registration of qualified non-locally trained doctors in Hong Kong.  The discussions were practical and rational, members were allowed to fine-tune the wordings of individual motions.

Though the motion supported by the Hong Kong Medical Association (HKMA) and other frontline doctor’s organisations was voted down, we do respect and accept the voting result. 

Upholding our motto “to safeguard the health of the people”, the HKMA will continue to scrutinize the implementation of the exemption arrangement to ascertain if the manpower problem in the public healthcare institutions can be effectively addressed, and at the same time to ensure the standard of non-locally trained doctors and patients’ safety in Hong Kong.  

Nevertheless, the HKMA sincerely hope that the administration would act seriously on improving the working environment and management issues in public healthcare institutions, retaining both local and non-locally trained doctors to continue to serve the general public.
