『春耕行動』器官捐贈推廣步行

　　香港醫學會及香港移植學會將於二零一七年三月十二日假西貢郊野公園舉行『春耕行動』器官捐贈推廣步行，藉此推動器官捐贈公眾教育、令公眾明瞭器官捐贈的意義和重要性，並鼓勵市民於中央器官捐贈登記名冊登記。是次活動由香港浸信會醫院、香港腎臟基金會、香港移植運動協會、國際獅子會腎病教育中心及研究基金，香港肝壽基金會及器官捐贈行動組共同協辦。

　　香港醫學會副會長暨春耕行動委員會主席何仲平醫生在記者招待會中表示，以『春耕行動』命名是次步行，意在強調器官捐贈的推廣教育是一個長期播種的過程。活動將於三月十二日上午十時正假西貢北潭涌傷健樂園舉行，開幕禮主禮嘉賓包括食物及衞生局局長高永文醫生、食物及衞生局副局長陳肇始教授、衞生署衞生防護中心總監黃加慶醫生及醫院管理局聯網服務總監張偉麟醫生。參加者將從傷健樂園出發步行至萬宜水庫西壩，然後沿途折返。本次活動現已獲超過兩百位市民報名參與，其中不乏通過器官移植手術重獲新生的人士。而每位參加者均會動員五位親友於衞生署的中央器官捐贈登記名冊登記，廣撒愛與希望的種子。

　　香港移植學會會長翟偉良醫生表示，本港現時可供移植的器官極度短缺，而每天都有超過二千名病者及其家屬苦苦等待。等不到合適的器官，他們便只能在病痛和死亡的威脅中受煎熬，有些病者更可能很快離世。為縮短病者等候的時間，使他們能及早重獲新生，市民更應積極登記器官捐贈。

　　香港醫學會副會長陳以誠醫生於記者招待會上即場唱出其創作的器官捐贈主題歌曲『第二生命』，他將與一眾中學生於開幕禮上共同演唱。

　　曾接受心臟移植手術的張子義先生亦會出席記者招待會，分享換心前後的歷程。現年64歲的張先生九年前因心臟病引起心臟衰竭，全身無力，數次因無法呼吸而緊急入院。幸運的是，在等待了11個月後，他終可在瑪麗醫院進行心臟移植手術。如今張先生有氣有力，還經常參加行山活動。他非常感激捐出心臟的善心人士，亦格外珍惜新生。他呼籲更多市民登記器官捐贈，使那些正苦苦等待器官的病友得以受惠，讓生命的價值在愛心護航中得以延續。

“Spring Sowers” Organ Donation Promotion Walk

The Hong Kong Medical Association (HKMA) and the Hong Kong Society of Transplantation (HKST) will jointly organize an Organ Donation Promotion Walk (Walk) entitled “Spring Sowers”, on 12 March 2017 at Sai Kung Country Park to arouse public awareness of the importance of organ donation and encourage Hong Kong citizens to register with the Centralised Organ Donation Register (CODR).  The event is co-organized by the Hong Kong Baptist Hospital, Hong Kong Kidney Foundation, Hong Kong Transplant Sports Association, Lions Kidney Educational Centre and Research Foundation, the Hong Kong Liver Foundation and the Organ Donation Action Group.

　　Dr. HO Chung Ping, MH, JP, Vice-President of HKMA and Chairman of Spring Sowers, said at the press conference that “Spring Sowers” denoted that organ donation promotion was a long term sowing process.  The Opening Ceremony of the Walk will be held on 12 March 2017 at Pak Tam Chung Picnic Area at 10 a.m.  Dr. KO Wing Man, BBS, JP, Secretary for Food and Health, Prof. CHAN Siu Chee, Sophia, JP, Under Secretary for Food and Health, Dr WONG Ka Hing, JP, Controller of Centre for Health Protection and Dr. CHEUNG Wai Lun, JP, Director (Cluster Services) of the Hospital Authority, would attend the Opening Ceremony as officiating guests.  After the Opening, participants would walk from the Picnic Area to West Dam of High Island Reservoir, and then return along the way.  More than 200 citizens had enrolled in this event, many of whom regained new life through organ transplantation.  After the Walk, each participant would mobilize five friends and relatives to register at CODR to spread love and seed of hope in an extensive way.

　　Dr. CHAK Wai Leung, President of HKST, addressed the severe shortage of transplantable organs in Hong Kong, with over 2,000 local patients and their family waiting desperately.  Without the matched organs, these patients can do nothing but to struggle with sickness and death.  Some of them may not be able to live for a long time.  In order to shorten patients' waiting time for organ transplant and to bring new life to these patients, active support for organ donation by the public is critically important.

　　Dr. CHAN Yee Shing, Alvin, Vice President of the HKMA, composed a theme song "Second Life" for the Walk.  He would sing this song with a group of secondary school students at the Opening Ceremony.

　　A heart transplant recipient, Mr. CHEUNG Chi Yee also joined the press conference to share his story.  Mr. CHEUNG, now 64-year-old, got heart failure and general weakness caused by heart disease nine years ago, and was hospitalized for emergency conditions due to inability to breathe.  Fortunately, after waiting for 11 months, he finally received the heart transplantation in Queen Mary Hospital.  Nine years have passed, Mr. CHEUNG had both energy and strength, and always took part in climbing activities.  He was very grateful to the kind people donating the heart, but also particularly cherishes the new life.  He called on more citizens to register at CODR to benefit more patients waiting for organs, and hoped the value of life could continue with love.
