老友記健康大學《實用手冊》發佈會 暨

《常見老年疾病動畫短片》試映會

 
香港醫學會於二零一六年獲社區投資共享基金撥款,在港島柴灣區開展為期兩年的「社區健康醫學堂」計劃,目的是貫徹香港醫學會「維護民康」的宗旨及推動醫學界積極參與社區服務,切實在社區體現「醫社合作」的精神。計劃包括三大部分-「老友記健康大學」、「老友記外展大使隊」和「一服務單位一醫生」。

 

今天下午香港醫學會舉行「老友記健康大學《實用手冊》發佈會暨《常見老年疾病動畫短片》試映會」。手冊輯錄了老友記健康大學的三個課程的重點,由負責講課的醫生和醫護人員參與編撰,讓更多老友記及社區人士能學習到預防疾病和疾病管理的知識。另外還印製了《柴灣區地區資源》,希望區內人士可以更掌握社區長者支援服務。為方便老友記閱讀,手冊亦特別以較大的字體、淺白的文字和多用圖畫、圖表等方式去表達較複雜的醫學資料,讓老友記和公眾都能容易理解。

 

現場同時亦播放由「社區健康醫學堂」製作,有關常見老年疾病動畫短片。整系列短片一共有十則,包括:糖尿病及高血壓、老年抑鬱症、中風、腎病及痛風、泌尿疾病、眼科疾病、心臟疾病、長者防跌及骨科、腸胃及小腸氣及認知障礙症。短片均以生動有趣的動畫人物,配合長者日常會遇到的情境,再加上邀請各專科醫生親身解說疾病管理,來提示老友記在預防和管理疾病上要注意的重點。短片將會陸續在不同媒體和社交平台發放。

 

香港醫學會會長蔡堅醫生在發佈會上提到醫學會於二零一四年成立社區服務委員會,已籌辦多項深得醫生會員及醫科學生支持的社區活動,包括季度性社福機構探訪、醫科生/中學生師友計劃及暑期趣味英語體驗營。蔡醫生表示醫學會一向鼓勵地區醫生與地區團體,透過本會的九個社區網絡,合作舉辦不同類型的公眾教育活動,以提升市民對健康和社區的關注。

 

香港醫學會義務秘書兼醫學會慈善基金會主席林哲玄醫生亦認為醫生雖為專業但服務的是市民,所以必須要投入社區先了解群眾的需要,才可為他們提供更適切的服務。而身兼醫學會會董及社區服務委員會的四位聯席主席:陳念德醫生、龐朝輝醫生、楊協和醫生和唐繼昇醫生相信實用手冊和地區資源可以讓柴灣區的老友記及居民學懂更多自我疾病管理的資訊,亦可當作溫故知新之用。四位主席更希望有關資源可以繼續在不同社區上廣傳,為其他社區建立社區資本。最後,四位主席特別感謝參與製作手冊和短片的所有醫生和其他醫護專業人員的熱忱。

 

大會還邀請了一些參與「社區健康醫學堂」計劃的學員、義工和老友記等,與出席的醫生一同分享參與計劃的點滴。當中多次參與「老友記外展大使隊」探訪的朱灼欣醫生分享帶同兩名年幼女兒去探訪居住於興華邨的長者對她們來說是好好的成長經驗和培育敬老的機會,兩位女兒亦對老友記分享的人生故事很感與趣。

 

老友記健康大學《實用手冊》的電子版本和《常見老年疾病動畫短片》已經上載到「社區健康醫學堂」的計劃網頁,稍後亦會上載至香港醫學會的Facebook專頁和「社區健康醫學堂」的計劃Instagram帳戶,及於溫莎公爵社會服務大廈地下大堂電視播放,與更多市民分享。市民可到相關連結了解更多詳情。

Health Academy for the Elderly:

Launch of Practical Handbook cum

Premiere of Animated Videos on Common Elderly Diseases

 

The Hong Kong Medical Association (HKMA) was funded by the Community Investment and Inclusion Fund (CIIF) in 2016 to run a 2-year “Community Health Academy” project in Chai Wan district, with the objectives to extend the Association’s motto, “To Safeguard the Health of the People”, and to drive the medical sector in active participation in community services, so as to strengthen the concept of “Medical-Social Collaboration in the Community”.  The Project consists of 3 main areas: “Health Academy for the Elderly”, “Outreach Team for the Elderly” and “One Service Unit One Doctor”.

 

This afternoon, the HKMA organized the “Launch of Practical Handbook cum Premiere of Animated Videos on Common Elderly Diseases”.  The Handbook compiled of the key concepts of the 3 courses of the Health Academy for the Elderly, and were written and edited by the courses’ speakers, i.e. doctors and other healthcare professionals.  The Handbook would benefit elderly and local communities on diseases prevention and management.  In addition, a “Chai Wai Community Resources” sheet was also attached with the Handbook, for the local communities’ easy reference on elderly support services in the community.  To convenient the elderly readers, larger font size, simple wordings and more graphics and table format were especially adopted to explain the medical jargons and difficult concepts, so that elderly and the general public can understand the content easily. 

 

An Animated Video on Common Elderly Diseases produced by the “Community Health Academy” was played during the premiere.  The whole series consists of 10 videos, i.e. Diabetes Mellitus and Hypertension, Elderly Depression, Stroke, Renal Diseases and Gout, Urological Diseases, Eye Diseases, Heart Diseases, Fall Prevention and Orthopaedics, Gastrointestinal Diseases and Hernia, and Dementia.  All videos comprised of vibrant animated characters in familiar conditions and environments of the elderly, together with further diseases explanations by various specialists, to prompt the elderly on the key points of diseases prevention and management.  The videos would be uploaded to various media and social media successively.        

 

Dr. CHOI Kin, the HKMA President shared that the HKMA Community Service Committee was set up in 2014, with a number of interested programmes been organized with the full supports from the HKMA members, including the quarterly visiting events, Medical Students-Secondary School Students Mentorship Programme, and the English Summer Camp.  The HKMA always encourage community doctors and different organizations in the community to co-organize public health education programmes through our 9 community networks to enhance the health awareness in the community. 

 

The HKMA Honorary Secretary cum Chairman of the HKMA Charitable Foundation, Dr. LAM Tzit Yuen, David, also expressed that despite doctors are professionals, whom they serve are the general public.  The best way to provide the most appropriate medical services to the public is to be proactively involved in the community and understand their needs.  Being the Council Members and Co-Chairmen of the HKMA Community Service Committee, Dr. CHAN Nim Tak, Douglas, Dr. PONG Chi Fai, Jeffrey, Dr. YEUNG Hip Wo, Victor and Dr. TONG Kai Sing, believed that the handbook and the animated videos would provide resourceful health information to the elderly and local communities.  The 4 Co-Chairmen hoped that these resources can be promoted in different communities to help building social capitals.  The Co-Chairmen also thanked those who have contributed to the Handbook and Video production, including doctors and other healthcare professionals.

 

Some elderly students, outreach ambassadors and elderly of the “Community Health Academy” were invited to share their learning and visiting experiences with the attending doctors.  One of the active participating Outreach Ambassadors, Dr. Elsa CHU, shared that it was a good opportunity for her two young daughters to visit the elderly living in Hing Wah Estate and in learning to pay respect to the elderly.  Her two daughters also immersed in the life stories from the elderly during the visits.

 

The electronic version of the Practical Handbook of the Health Academy for the Elderly and the Animated Videos on Common Elderly Diseases have been uploaded to webpage of “Community Health Academy” project.  The same information will be uploaded to the HKMA Facebook page and the Instagram of “Community Health Academy” project.  The videos will also be broadcast in the television of the lobby of the Duke of Windsor Social Service Building soon.  The general public can check out the various channels for the related resources.
