『春耕行動』器官捐贈推廣步行

 

  由香港醫學會及香港移植學會聯合舉辦的『春耕行動』器官捐贈推廣步行於昨日(一月五日)上午假東涌舉行。食物及衞生局局長陳肇始教授及立法會議員陳沛然醫生,聯同其他協辦機構代表及嘉賓親臨參與支持。

 

  食物及衞生局局長陳肇始教授表示,器官移植對大部分器官衰竭病者及其家人能燃點希望,延續生命。她表示:「器官捐贈的公眾教育需要深耕細作,正好呼應活動的名稱『春耕行動』。透過播下促進器官捐贈的種子,我希望愛心之苗可以茁壯成長,在社會逐步建立接受和推崇器官捐贈的文化。」

 

  香港醫學會會長及春耕行動委員會主席何仲平醫生指出,『春耕行動』意在強調器官捐贈的推廣教育是一個長期播種的過程。他寄望每年可定期舉行此類活動,因為器官捐贈活動的成效如春耕需要時間「收割」。一班醫生及器官移植受益者,以及腎兒聲夢合唱團的小朋友於開幕禮上身體力行表演,宣揚「以生命延續生命」。

 

  國際扶輪3450地區總監鄭鶴明先生及國際獅子總會中國港澳303區總監王恭獅兄分別表示會繼續支持器官捐贈活動。

 

  本次步行活動吸引約三百名市民報名參加,其中不乏通過器官移植手術重獲新生的人士。參加者今早十時半從東涌東薈城音樂噴泉出發,步行途經東涌侯王古廟、沿路觀賞生態價值豐富的天然河溪─東涌河,最後返至起點,步行約2小時。每位參加者均承諾會動員五位親友於衞生署的中央器官捐贈登記名冊登記,廣撒愛與希望的種子。

 

  是次活動由香港器官捐贈行動組、香港移植運動協會、香港女醫生協會、軍事遺蹟保育團、國際獅子總會中國港澳303區、國際扶輪3450地區、國際獅子會腎病教育中心研究基金、香港浸信會醫院、保柏、港怡醫院、卓健醫療服務有限公司、和仁安醫院共同協辦。

 

  本會在此呼籲更多市民登記器官捐贈,使那些正苦苦等待器官的病友得以受惠,讓生命的價值在愛心護航中可得延續。

“Spring Sowers” Organ Donation Promotion Walk

 

The Hong Kong Medical Association (HKMA) and the Hong Kong Society of Transplantation (HKST) jointly organized an Organ Donation Promotion Walk (the Walk) entitled “Spring Sowers” at Tung Chung on 5 January 2020.  Prof. CHAN Siu Chee, Sophia, JP, Secretary for Food and Health and Dr. Hon CHAN Pierre, Legislative Councilor and representatives of all co-organizers attended the Opening Ceremony.

 

Prof. CHAN Siu Chee, Sophia, JP, Secretary for Food and Health, expressed that organ transplant was the only hope for most patients and their family. She said " Organ donation needs long-term public education. The name of “Spring Sowers” is best to explain this sowing period.  I hope that more people would recognise the importance of organ donation and cultivate a culture of giving hope to the needy in the city."

 

Dr. HO Chung Ping, MH, JP, President of HKMA and Chairman of Spring Sowers, said that “Spring Sowers” denoted that organ donation promotion was a long term sowing process.  He wished to hold these events every year on a regular basis.  A Group of doctors and organ transplant recipients, as well as the KIDS' Dream Choir performed at the Opening Ceremony for promoting the importance of organ donation.

 

Mr. Wilson CHENG, District Governor of Rotary International District 3450 and Lion Alexander WONG, District Governor of Lions Clubs International District 303 - Hong Kong & Macao, China spoke about their willingness to support organ donation at the ceremony.

 

Around 300 participants participated the Walk with their full support.  Among the participants, there were organ transplant recipients.  All participants started the Walk at the Citygate Musical Fountain at 10:30 a.m. They walked pass Tin Hau Temple, and witness the valuable natural heritage and biodiversity of Tung Chung River, and returned to the starting point.  It took participants about 2 hours to finish.  After the Walk, every participant would mobilize five friends and relatives to register with CODR to spread love and seed of hope in an extensive way.

 

The event is co-organized by BUPA, Gleneagles Hong Kong Hospital, Field and Mountain Division, Hong Kong Baptist Hospital, Hong Kong Organ Donation Action Group, Hong Kong Transplant Sports Association, Hong Kong Women Doctors Association, Lions Clubs International District 303 - Hong Kong & Macao, China, Lions Kidney Educational Centre & Research Foundation, Quality Healthcare Medical Centre, Rotary District 3450 and Union Hospital.

 

The Hong Kong Medical Association calls on more citizens to register with CODR to help patients who are waiting for organs.  We hope the value of life could be extended through organ transplant with the power of love.
